How clever is Sam Worley?? He’s THE BEST for Churchlands next year!
CONGRATULATIONS SAM!

Small blog homework this week – (by Monday) in a book you are reading or have read, find a paragraph that describes a place very well. It must have several sentences and many interesting words. The place could be a room, a house, a city, an open area, etc. (in other words, anywhere), but it must be an excellent description and you must read it to the class AND tell us why you like it. Nobody will pick a book from a class shelf – something from home please. People who don’t prepare this will miss out on a treat on Monday.
You may have until Monday to do your Maths, too.
See you Thursday morning.

Today Curtis is off to Canberra to compete in a basketball competition between state teams.
Annalisa has won a Sun Smart writing competition. Here’s the link to her story: Sun Smart Competition
Many of you have passed your swimming stage and can feel very proud of yourselves.
I have been writing lots of reports with excellent marks and nice comments.
Because you are all so clever, starting next week you will be able to take a turn at teaching the class how to do something. This might be anything from cartwheels to sewing, knitting to sculpture, drawing to origami, cricket bowling to applying makeup.
Each class member will have about half an hour to show the others their special skill. If you need any unusual materials please let me know. You can start planning your ideas now and we’ll make up a timetable on Monday.

Hi there people.
Swimming starts today. Already one person has said they are nervous or uncomfortable. If you have ANY worries about swimming – ability, personal issues, etc, please talk to me – or another teacher, a parent . . .
If you wear your bathers under your uniform (and not instead of, boys) make sure you remember your UNDIES!!! Towels are really important as well – and goggles – and sunscreen – …. anything I’ve missed?
MUSIC VIDEOS – today I think. Costumes!
HOMEWORK – have a rest (except for Maths and special spelling) – just remember to bring your swimming gear every day and your Music video costumes. 100% effort please.

Hi Guys
Not a good start for me this week – one of you left your sore throat lying around and I seem to have picked it up. Ouch. Should be back soon. In the meantime, work hard for Mr B.

Great to see all of you in hats these days. Apart from the obvious need for sun sense and the fact that it’s a school rule, I have a personal interest in keeping you kids skin-cancer-free. Both my parents died of cancer, my Dad from Melanoma (a savage skin cancer). For a lot of my generation it’s probably too late as we spent much of our free time outside and I don’t think I even owned a school hat. People used to spread oil on to make their tans darker then lie in the sun to bake!!
These days there are alternatives to sunbaking: 1. staying pale; 2. fake, wipe on cream tan; 3. spray on tan clinics and 4. solarium tanning (in a boutique under lamps).

HOMEWORK:
Is spray on tan safer than using a solarium? State your case, first defining each process and using EVIDENCE from more than one source. You don’t need to rely only on internet sources. There are pamphlets available from these places. The Cancer Association may also have some advice or information.
This week it would be good if everyone made an effort and did this homework before Friday.
See you Monday
